Flooring Tips

You are prone to slip, trip and fall when you do not have levelled and strong flooring. So, it is essential for you to ensure that whilst building a whole new house or renovating it the flooring is laid properly. Here are a few more tips to get the flooring right:

  • Start with Levelled Surface

Before you install any type of flooring, it is important to ensure that your subfloor is levelled. In order to do so you need to make use of liquid flooring which is a type of screed that gives the main floor the required support. A levelled surface is essential because if there are any voids underneath the floorboard, there are possibilities that the floor might squeak.

  • Stick to Adhesive’s Directions

Once the subfloor is placed and levelled, the next step is to add the main flooring on it. When the floor is being glued you make use of adhesives, so ensure that you check the drying time for it. Also work in small sections so that you do not spread more adhesive before you cover it, as it dries quickly and can ruin the flooring.

  • Test for Stains

Before you cover the entire floor ensure that you test it for any stain in an inconspicuous area or on a sample piece of the flooring. This way, you make sure that you are satisfied with the colour.

  • Protect the Floors

This is one of the most important things in order to get the flooring right. You need to maintain your floor on a regular basis so that it remains durable for prolonged time. By making sure that your floor is properly maintained you also reduce the risk of tripping or falling.
